Description: A gramophone record, commonly known as phonograph record, vinyl record, or simply record,is an analog sound storage medium consisting of a flat disc with an inscribed modulated spiral groove usually starting near the periphery and ending near the centre of the disc. When made of polyvinyl chloride, such a disc is also known as a vinyl record. Gramophone records were the primary medium used for commercial music reproduction for most of the 20th century, replacing the phonograph cylinder by the 1920s. They were largely supplanted by the late 1980s by digital media, leaving the mainstream in 1991.[1] [2] However, they continue to be manufactured and sold in the 21st century. The vinyl record regained some popularity by 2008, with nearly 2.9 million units shipped that year, the most in any year since 1998.[3] They are used predominantly by young adults, as well as DJs and audiophiles for certain types of music, especially electronic dance music, hip hop, punk rock, and jazz.

As of 2009, vinyl records continue to be used for distribution of independent and alternative music artists, unlike more mainstream pop releases, which tend be mostly sold in digital or compact disc format. Description: Primus is an American rock band based in San Francisco, California, currently composed of bassist/vocalist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry 'Ler' LaLonde and drummer Jay Lane. Primus originally formed in 1984 with Claypool and guitarist Todd Huth, later joined by Lane, though the latter two departed the band at the end of 1988. Primus are characterized by their irreverent, quirky approach to music. They have released some of their records on Claypool's Prawn Song Records label, the title of which is a parody of Led Zeppelin's Swan Song label.

Primus began as Primate in El Sobrante, California in 1984 with singer and bassist Les Claypool, guitarist Todd Huth, and a LinnDrum drum machine. The duo initially had trouble finding a drummer, until Claypool's friend Vince 'Perm' Parker returned home from a stint in the army, and together the three of them recorded their first demo, financed by Claypool selling his car.[1][2] Primate changed their name to Primus after 'about a month' when they were approached by a group called The Primates threatening legal action over the similarity of their names.[2] Parker was soon replaced by the band's second drummer, Peter Libby, who was himself replaced by Robbie Bean, before the band eventually. Description: Kenneth Howes and Jeff Crompton were tasked with doing a complete redesign in 1956, with the goal of producing a dedicated sports car aimed principally at the US market. Ken Howes contributed some 80% of the overall design work, which bears more than incidental resemblance to the early Ford Thunderbird—Ken Howe had worked at Ford before joining Rootes. The Alpine was produced in four subsequent revisions through to 1968. Total production numbered around 70,000.

Machine was released May 22, 2001 to major success, and shortly after, Static-X began work on their third album, Shadow Zone, this time with Eisen performing and writing on the album. However, before they could start recording, Ken Jay left the band due to musical and political differences. To drum on the album, Josh Freese of A Perfect Circle and The Vandals was brought in. Later, Nick Oshiro, formerly of Seether, was selected as Jay's replacement and the band's permanent drummer. During production of the album, Jonathan Davis of Korn contacted Wayne Static to record the vocals for a song he wrote for the Queen of the Damned soundtrack, entitled 'Not Meant for Me' as well as contributing the song 'Cold'.

During this time his first marriage had broken up and he had returned to playing music, initially playing the organ in a pub, then playing traditional German music. In 1969, he was invited by Robin Trower to replace Matthew Fisher on organ and David Knights on bass in Procol Harum (at which point that band consisted entirely of ex-The Paramounts musicians).[1] Between December 1969 and March 1977 Copping recorded seven albums with the group and toured extensively. During this time Copping alternated between bass guitar and Hammond organ as other musicians joined the group. After recording the album, Something Magic, he left the group and was replaced by Dee Murray for the accompanying tour, after which the group broke up. In 1978 he moved to Australia where he continues to play and compose.

In recent years Copping has worked with artists such as Mark Hilton, JoJo Leslie and Astrid Munday, as well as composing music for a number of short films (Miss Fortune, The Web and Slim Pickings). After the release of their debut album, Sinner, vocalist Dave Williams was found dead on August 14, 2002[1] from a heart disease. Jason Jones, who replaced Williams in 2003, recorded one album, Desensitized, but left in 2005 due to musical differences.[2] Ryan McCombs of metal band SOiL later replaced Jones and released two albums, Full Circle and Drowning Pool.[3] However, McCombs left the band in 2011 to rejoin SOiL.[4] Jasen Moreno was announced as Ryan McCombs' replacement in 2012. In 2010, TFK performed at Creation Festival: The Tour Presents the Welcome to the Masquerade Fall Tour. Description: Polysics was formed in 1997 by Japanese high-school student Hiroyuki Hayashi. After watching some live footage of Devo and becoming heavily inspired by new wave music of the West, the student quit his soccer team and formed a band that would expand on the cartoonish image and musical ideas of the zany art-punk icons he had seen on TV. He was joined by drummer Junichi Sugai and Sako (aka Poly 2). Another member named Kaneko joined within the early years of the band. He then left and he was then replaced by Kayo and with her mechanical stage presence, it provided an asymmetrical dynamic to the frenetic antics of the other three. The name of the band derives from the first synthesizer owned by Hayashi, the Korg Polysix.

This synth appears in two of their early music videos. In 1999, Polysics released their first albums 1st P and A.D.S.R.M!

On the independent label DECKREC Records. Just after the release of 1st P their bassist, known only as 'POLY-2', left. The band dropped the 'POLY-X' names, and reduced to a trio, with new member Fumi on Bass Support on some of the tracks from Neu. In 1999, Asian Man Records released their US debut album, Hey! To rave reviews, but weak sales. The album was a compilation of tracks from their first two Japanese releases. In 2000, Polysics signed to Ki/oon Records (a subsidiary of Sony Music Japan Inc.) and released their first major album Neu.

The album carried with it the same manic energy as their independent releases but more refined. On the 2001 album Eno, Synthesizers became more prevalent in the mix, but the songs still had an intense punk-like energy.

For this album, Fumi applied as a full member, returning Polysics to a quartet. 2002 saw the release of the album For Young Electric Pop, Polysics' attempt at a pop album. The manic punk energy was minimized, but the band showed it had an amazing sense of harmony and style. In 2003, Neu was released in the United States on Asian Man Records to rave reviews and great. Description: Machine Head finished touring for The Burning Red, and entered a studio with producer Johnny K to record Supercharger. Debuting at number 115 on the Billboard 200, the album was released on October 2, 2001.[13] The album met the same criticism as The Burning Red, especially for the ever-present rapping vocals.

Blabbermouth.net reviewer Borivoj Krgin stated Supercharger 'is likely to disappoint everyone who is expecting the Bay Area quartet to return to the ultra-testosterone-charged sounds of their first two albums'. Machine Head released a single for 'Crashing Around You' as well as a music video. The video was released several weeks after the September 11, 2001 attacks, and was banned from MTV for the depictions of falling buildings. Roadrunner Records, expecting to make a fair profit from album promotions, dropped the band's funding, causing Machine Head to leave the label.[19] At the same time the band was leaving Roadrunner, Luster departed from the band for musical differences. By 2002, Machine Head has sold over 1.3 million albums worldwide, and overall Supercharger (mixed by Colin Richardson) would go on to sell an impressive 250,000 copies worldwide, but it would be their lowest selling album to date.

Once the tour for the album had been completed, Machine Head and Roadrunner Records mutually decided to sever ties with regards to distribution in North America and around the world, however to fill the ties, the band released 'Hellalive' (also mixed by Colin Richardson) which was a recording of a Brixton Academy, London set. In 2002 Ahrue Luster left the band and was temporarily replaced by Phil Demmel, who played in thrash band Vio-lence alongside Flynn.

Demmel played some festival shows with Machine Head (including a headlining slot at the With Full Force festival in Germany). Then with Phil not being able to commit to the band, he and Machine Head parted ways. The remainder of the band starting writing songs for the next album (eventually Through the Ashes. Description: The Orthophonic had an interior folded exponential horn, a sophisticated design informed by impedance-matching and transmission-line theory, and designed to provide a relatively flat frequency response.

Its first public demonstration was front-page news in the New York Times, which reported that: 'The audience broke into applause. John Philip Sousa [said]: 'Gentleman [sic], that is a band. The new instrument is a feat of mathematics and physics. It is not the result of innumerable experiments, but was worked out on paper in advance of being built in the laboratory. The new machine has a range of from 100 to 5,000 frequencies[sic], or five and a half octaves. The 'phonograph tone' is eliminated by the new recording and reproducing process.' [12] Gradually, electrical reproduction entered the home. The clockwork motor was replaced by an electric motor; the 'needle' and diaphragm (the 'sound box') was replaced with a 'pickup' using either a steel or sapphire stylus, and a transducer to convert the groove vibrations into an electrical signal. From 1897 onwards, earlier materials were largely replaced by a rather brittle formula of 25% shellac, a filler of a cotton compound similar to manila paper, powdered slate, and a small amount of a wax lubricant. The mass production of shellac records began in 1898 in Hanover, Germany, and continued until the end of the 78 rpm format in the late 1950s.

'Unbreakable' records, usually of celluloid on a pasteboard base, were made from 1904 onwards, but they suffered from an exceptionally high level of surface noise. They were not satisfied with the release and decided changes needed to be made. This resulted in the dismissal of Bob Livingston. Santana replaced him with Mike Shrieve, who had a strong background in both jazz and rock. Marcus Malone was forced to quit the band due to personal problems, and the band re-enlisted Michael Carabello. Carabello brought with him percussionist Jose Chepito Areas, who was already well-known in his country, Nicaragua, and, with his skills and professional experience, was a major contributor to the band. Bill Graham had been a fan of the band from its inception, arranged for the band to appear at the Woodstock Music and Art Festival before their debut album was even released.

They were one of the surprises of the festival; their set was legendary and, later, the exposure of their eleven-minute instrumental 'Soul Sacrifice' in the Woodstock film and soundtrack albums vastly increased Santana's popularity. Graham also gave the band some key advice to record the Willie Bobo song 'Evil Ways', as he felt it would get them radio airplay. Description: In 1954 Bernstein made the first of his television lectures for the CBS arts program Omnibus. The live lecture, entitled 'Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony', involved Bernstein explaining the work with the aid of musicians from the former NBC Symphony Orchestra (recently renamed the 'Symphony of the Air') and a giant page of the score covering the floor.

Bernstein subsequently performed concerts with the orchestra and recorded his Serenade for Violin with Isaac Stern. In late 1956, Bernstein conducted the New York Philharmonic in concerts that were to have been conducted by Guido Cantelli, who had tragically died in an air crash in Paris. This was the first time Bernstein had conducted the orchestra in subscription concerts since 1951. Partly due to these appearances, Bernstein was named the music director of the New York Philharmonic in 1957, replacing Dimitri Mitropoulos. He began his tenure in that position in 1958, having held the post jointly with Mitropoulos from 1957 to 1958.

In 1958, Bernstein and Mitropoulos took the New York Philharmonic on tour to South America. In his first season in sole charge, Bernstein included a season-long survey of American classical music. Themed programming of this sort was fairly novel at that time compared to the present day. Bernstein held the music directorship until 1969 (with a sabbatical in 1965) although he continued to conduct and make recordings with the orchestra for the rest of his life and was appointed 'laureate conductor'. He became a well-known figure in the United States through his series of fifty-three televised Young People's Concerts for CBS, which grew out of his Omnibus programs. Washington High School, the alma mater of Rufus Thomas and shared the hallowed halls with future stars like Isaac Hayes's writing partner David Porter; saxophonist Andrew Love of The Memphis Horns; soul singer/songwriter William Bell and Earth, Wind, and Fire's Maurice White. Given that the build server regularly hosts 30+ people, trying to precisely recreate a game that some might not have played didn't seem like a worthwhile endeavor. What we did, instead, was try and retain the flavor of Rapture, while still enjoying the process of making our own original creations., this means we have structures that did not exist in the game - such as our giant, which is one of the main hubs of the city.

With that said, we're still tremendously proud of our accomplishments so far, so we put this video together to celebrate our current progress. I just want to emphasize that all of the construction on the map is done by hand.

Here's a simple tutorial you can follow to make your own Resource Pack.

(***Open***) this is a video showing you the easy ways around making your own minecraft resource pack. This is mainly for 1.7 *Downloads* -WinRAR- -pack.mcmeta- (needed) (drag and drop into the zip file) -Audacity- -YoutubeToMp3- -Music Disc Names- *Steps* 1. Create a ZIP file 2. Download, and drag and drop the 'pack.mcmeta' (link above) into the ZIP 3. Make a new folder in the ZIP called assets 4.

Make a new folder inside assets called minecraft 5. Make a new folder inside minecraft called sounds 6. Make a new folder inside sounds called records 7.

Download a song (link above) and export it as.ogg (audacity, link above) **NAME IT EXACTLY THE SAME AS A MUSIC DISC OF YOUR CHOICE**(link above for disc names) 8. Move the.ogg file you exported to the records folder in the ZIP. Hold the windows key on your keyboard (looks like 4 windows) and press R. Next type in%appdata%/.minecraft/resourcepacks 11. There is a process to getting your songs to play and various things you need to craft such as a Record Etcher and a Record Player as well as the Blank Record you'll write your song on! By now the Cult of Rapture server has made its rounds on the internet and gotten all of the attention it well and truly deserved. However, back when I first set the minecraft server up, most of us hadn't caught wind of it yet, so we set about making Rapture on our own. We were not trying to precisely duplicate Rapture. Given that the build server regularly hosts 30+ people, trying to precisely recreate a game that some might not have played didn't seem like a worthwhile endeavor. What we did, instead, was try and retain the flavor of Rapture, while still enjoying the process of making our own original creations. Obviously, this means we have structures that did not exist in the game - such as our giant Surface Recreation Dome, which is one of the main hubs of the city.

With that said, we're still tremendously proud of our accomplishments so far, so we put this video together to celebrate our current progress. I just want to emphasize that all of the construction on the map is done by hand. Nothing was editor'd in. Admins and mods on the main build server do spawn blocks for people when needed, but only for things that can't otherwise by regularly attained such as ice blocks or lava. If they want any gold, diamond, rock, whatever, that is regularly available in the map, it's up to the player to get it.

For the record, these two videos only walk through about 2/3rds of what we've built down here.:P There's some places I totally forgot to wander through, like Siren Alley.
