Rimsky-Korsakov Competition was established by the Federal Agency on Culture and Cinematography, St. Petersburg Committee for Culture and St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory. • The competition will be held from 23th November to 6th December, 2008 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Auditions for the categories of trumpet, trombone, and bass-trombone will be held on November 23-30 and auditions for the categories of clarinet and bassoon will be held on December 1-6. • The logo of the competition, design of medals, layouts of booklet and diplomas are to be approved by the Organizing Committee of the competition. • The Organizing Committee is formed by the constitutors of the competition.
• The jury of the competition consists of authoritative and prominent musicians and it is to be appointed by the Federal Agency on Culture and Cinematography. Registration • The competition is open to musicians of any nationality, provided that they are not older than 32 on the starting date of the competition. • The winners of first prize of the 1st International N. Rimsky-Korsakov Competition may not participate in the competition. • The applications from candidates interested in entering the contest must be received by the Organizing Committee no later than October 1, 2008 The application package with all required below materials should be mailed to the International N. To register, the following documents must be supplied: 1. Photocopy of National Identity card or Passport with your age, nationality and number clearly legible.
Copies of Diplomas 3. A Curriculum Vitae 4. Two black-and-white photographs (13x18) and one photograph of 3x4 cm in size• Candidates will be informed on the 20th of October 2008 at the latest after receiving all the required documents whether they have been admitted for participation in the competition. • All applicants who have been selected to participate in the First Round of the competition must submit the enrolment of 50 euro. Fees should be paid in cash upon participants’ arrival. • If an applicant withdraws from the competition, the documents, enrolment fee will not be returned. Competition Order • The competition will consist of three rounds and all the rounds will be open to public.

A maximum fifteen percents of all candidates will be selected for the Second Round and a maximum of five candidates will be selected for the Third Round. • Each composition may be performed in one round only. • The sheet music required for the competition will be send cash on delivery. • The 2nd International N. Rimsky-Korsakov Competition announces the following prizes for each specialty: 1st Prize – title of Laureate and $5000 2nd Prize – title of Laureate and $3000 3rd Prize – title of Laureate and $1500 Two 4th Prizes - $500 each Four best accompanists will be awarded the Diplomas and $500 each.
Candidates selected for the Second Round will be awarded the Diplomas.• All laureates and their accompanists must perform free of charge in the closing concerts of the competition. • The jury has the right: to award not all prizes to divide the prizes among performers to award the two 2nd prizes or two 3rd prizes in the absence the of 1st and 2nd prizes respectively• The decision of the jury is not subject to review. Financial Conditions • The competitors may bring their own accompanists (pianists). The Organizing Committee will provide accompanying pianists for rehearsals and performances in the competition for each competitor who requests one on the application form. • Participants of the First Round and their accompanists are responsible for all their expenses.
The Organizing Committee will provide accommodation for all participants who have been retained for the Second Round for as long as they remain in the competition. • The Organizing Committee will assist to accompanying persons in finding suitable accommodation and in attending the competition events. • Russian and foreign states, as well as public organizations, artistic unions, mass media, institutions and firms, can award special prizes upon agreement with the Organizing Committee.
